PLAYERUKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS To ‘Push’ Back Full Launch, Stay In Early Access

the full launch back a bit” to give it more time to polish the popular shooter.

The original plan was a six-month stint in Early Access, followed by a proper launch. However, a community post on the game’s Steam hub states that the timeline has changed in order to avoid “disappointment within the community”:

…I’ve come to realize that restricting the window to a specific month could hinder us from delivering a fully featured game and/or lead to disappointment within the community if the launch deadline is not met.

So, we have decided that we are going push the full launch back a bit from the initial six-month timeframe, but want to assure you that we are still planning a full release before the end of Q4 2017.

The end result is the game will likely stay in Early Access a few extra months, time Bluehole can almost certainly afford. Seeing as the game can be bought and played right now, the consequences for players are minor.

I think it’d take an additional delay or two before people start raising eyebrows. While there’s nothing wrong with sticking with Early Access, it’s probably best not to become one of those games that remains there in seeming perpetuity.
