Usually, when television networks resurrect long-cancelled series, the newly-revived characters’ stories pick up sometime in the future, with everyone having gone on living their lives. That isn’t the case with Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling. Apparently, they have been stuck in the ’90s.

The first clip from the upcoming special, shared at this year’s Comic-Con, featured Rocko, Spunky, Heffer and Filburt step out of Rocko’s O-Town home expecting to find the city as it was when last we saw them — 1996. As the group steps onto the footpath and begins to wander around, the realise just how much things have changed. The old comic book shop that Rocko used to work at has been replaced by a 3D printer. All of the movies have superheroes in them and every single corner has an identical coffee shop. Everyone is obsessed with new technology. And Rocko doesn’t like it any of it.
Basically, the poor wallaby has the exact same reaction you would have had if you were randomly went to sleep and woke up in 2018 — which is when Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling premieres on Nickelodeon.

Only if they’d bring back Angry Beavers.
Life = complete.
That idea is ….. almost interesting.
😛
They already had an episode where they go outside to discover it’s the future.
Up All Night from memory.
Right on. As a matter of fact I would watch an Oxnard Montaaaaaalvo cartoon series too.
Don’t see that happening any time soon.
Not since Daggett’s Plot Device prematurely detonated while Oxnard was holding it for some screwed up reason.
😛
Aw spoot.
I’d say this comment is worth $127.
Yeh baby!
Holy shit, this is some grade-A satire.
Looking fantastic in the complete style of the original! Can’t wait to see the episodes when they release!
Social commentary wrapped in a nostalgic package, pretty damn well done
Really Nickelodeon’s Rocko’s New Modern Life can’t cope with the 21st century? I see but at least Rocko’s New Modern Life is making a comeback thanks to the team at Nickelodeon.
Decluttering and mindfulness day, is a very dangerous day.
Rocko’s Modern Life was an interesting look at the 90s… when it started, then it degenerated into a piece of shit on the same level as modern day crap. So why not bring it back to overplay mordern day into something even worse?
they need to bring back a*mazing. james sherry has already said he’d totally be up for it!
About time… as a 90’s kid, I am completely flabbergasted whenever I browse to Nickelodeon on Foxtel; it’s literally a sponge bog square pants marathon each and every day with some fodder in-between.
The concept kind of reminds me a bit of that South Park episode with the frozen guy…
