Marvel’s How-to-Draw Variant Covers Are Fun, But Gwenpool’s Is The Best

This spring, Marvel is running a series of “How to Draw” variant covers from the manic, wonderful mind of writer/artist Chip Zdarsky. There’s a lot to love in this cheeky revival of the classic drawing books of Marvel’s older years, but we’ve found a pretty clear favourite of all the covers that have been revealed already.

Twenty issues will come with a “How to Draw” variant from Zdarksy this spring, from All New Guardians of the Galaxy to Cable, Invincible Iron Man and Daredevil. Aside from little drawings from Zdarsky himself, each step comes with some advice from the creator to help you along in your path to becoming an Artist, the Marvel Way:

Not all of that advice is helpful, though.

There’s a lot to love in these covers, but our absolute favourite is the one for Gwenpool #21, because naturally it’s a cover that takes the absurdity of Zdarsky’s premise and chucks it straight out at the fourth wall in the way only a character with “pool” in their name truly can:

This is definitely a variant style we’d love to see more of. Check out the link below for a full list of comics that will get the variants, as well as a few more examples.
