This Week In Games: Meet Your Destiny, Again

Who’s ready to swear at the Cryptarch all over again? That’s right, it’s Destiny 2 time. But it’s not just AAA shooters that are coming out this week – the Switch also has a glut of releases, and there’s a couple of very intriguing indies. Also, Knack 2.

Beat The Game (PC, PS4, XBO)

What is it? An adventure game where you combine music on a holographic mixer, culminating in a live show at the end with all the sounds you’ve discovered.
Should you care? I can’t think of another game in recent times that even resembles this.

Knack 2 (PS4)

What is it? An action-platformer where players control Knack, a little robot that travels through levels destroying enemies, random stuff, completing jumping puzzles, and other bits and bobs.
Should you care? Some people really love Knack. I’ve never understood why, but hey. Here’s a sequel.

The Bridge (Switch)

What is it? An M.C Escher inspired monochromatic game that blends puzzles with physics.
Should you care? It’s $15 and looks real neat. I’ll probably stream this later this week.

LEGO Worlds (Switch)

What is it? The LEGO sandbox adventure makes its way to the Switch.
Should you care? Real cute game for parents to play with their kids.

RBI Baseball 2017 (Switch)

What is it? Simulated baseball, on the go.
Should you care? How much do you like baseball?

The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth (Switch)

What is it? Isaac lands on the Switch at last.
Should you care? The Switch doesn’t have a lack of twin stick shooters, but it’s hard to go past Isaac for replayability.

Neurovoider (Switch)

What is it? A twin-stick shooter RPG, making its way to the Switch.
Should you care? Was decent when it landed on PC, should play nicely on the train.

Destiny 2 (PS4/XBO)

What is it? Bungie’s MMO shooter returns.
Should you care? PC fans will get the full release on October 24. If you want to more or less see all the content before then, off to the consoles you go.

Don’t Knock Twice (PS4, PSVR, XBO)

What is it? A first-person horror game where the player tries to uncover the truth behind an urban tale of a demonic witch.
Should you care? Should be called Explore A Manor And Try Not To Shit Your Pants: The Video Game. I’m sure that’s fun for some of you.

Reaching for Petals (PC)

What is it? An adventure about travelling to the peak of a mountain, revisiting memories along the way.
Should you care? One for fans of walking simulators. Particularly Vanishing of Ethan Carter, I’d venture.

Senko no Ronde 2 (PC, PS4)

What is it? A game that blends fighting games with top-down shooters.
Should you care? Pretty sure this came out on the Xbox 360 ages ago, but some people will be excited for a re-release.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth (PS4)

What is it? A Japanese visual novel mixed with turn-based strategy that runs for 80+ hours.
Should you care? I’ve got no background in this, so don’t ask me. Check the trailer and see if it’s your kind of jam.

So that’s the bulk of what’s coming out this week. Obviously, Destiny 2 is going to hoover up a lot of the attention, but Switch fans should be super happy about what’s coming their way.

Will you be picking anything up this week?
