Sony Australia is releasing two special edition PS4 bundles next month for the release of Star Wars Battlefront II. They’re not pretty.

These special edition consoles are a far cry from the glorious Star Wars Xbox 360s that were released several years ago. I bet they don’t even make R2D2 noises when you turn them on.

Hitting shelves on November 14, three days before the release of Star Wars Battlefront II, there are two bundles on offer: a black PS4 Pro ($659.95) with a couple of decals from the game and a grey 1TB PS4 ($549.95) with a couple of decals from the game.

Both bundles come with the deluxe edition of Star Wars Battlefront II that comes with “premium digital content, including upgraded versions of all four trooper classes, and instant access to elite hero and starfighter epic Star Cards.”

Both bundles also come with a DualShock 4 that sports the same decals on the handles and has the Star Wars logo plastered all over the touchpad.

I’m not sure what they were thinking. But hey, you get the game a few days early and not everyone cares what their consoles look like.

  • Sony is really disappointing me with these theme consoles. The earlier ones were amazing, Destiny, MGSV, Final Fantasy, even the Darth Vader was better than this.

However Destiny 2 and this Star Wars console just shows they don’t care and are literally selling us something with little effort, and people will buy it :/

  • To be fair, it’s difficult to make a console look good with a stylistic approach. To be even fairer, this design is just flat out lazy. This is what console’s used to look like in the 90’s when kids got stickers for their favorite band/character/movie/game/cartoon etc.

But, alas, it’s Star Wars; a rabid enough fan base that anything that comes close to representing the IP will be bought in truckloads.

  • They will not sell out haha. Those custom Destiny 2 controllers are already collecting dust on retail shelves countrywide, and the GT Sport ones look set to do the same. Hell, those old model Uncharted PS4 consoles are still kicking around.
