A Children’s Book Full Of ’90s Video Game References

Kotaku reader Ian Wenstrand has written and illustrated a children’s book called Plugged In, where a kid obsessed with video games wakes up in a land that “blurs the line between the real and virtual worlds”.

To set things right and get back home, our hero Sam has to “team up with heroes from his video game collection”. What that means is that every page features a cameo of some sort from Ian‘s childhood, which include everyone from Fox McCloud to Earthbound‘s Ness to Ash from Pokemon.

The book seems fine, but boy, the art is great. Every page is packed with the most incredible detail, and there are so many video game legends hidden in the backgrounds that there’s Where’s Wally-ish compulsion to scan every inch of every page.

I’m featuring some art here because I love it so much, but you can check it out at the link below.
