Good Morning, Here’s Some More Battletech Gameplay

It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with the turn-based mecha combat of Battletech. But some fresh footage of the campaign was released overnight, so let’s check out some missiles and lasers.

For those not up to speed: Battletech is a new mecha-tactics game from the creator of Mechwarrior and BattleTech worlds. It raised just short of $4 million on Kickstarter a couple of years ago, and development has been kicking along ever since.

Due for release next year, Harebrained Schemes (which also worked on Shadowrun Returns) have published some more footage of the campaign. It’s all in-game footage showing off a mission to destroy two mining towers, as well as a generator powering a series of defence turrets.

Straightforward stuff, really. But it does what you’d want from gameplay footage at this stage: shows off the systems, refinements to the UI, attacking mechanics, contact with the enemy, and, of course, the slightly B-grade voiceovers.

This is coming along really nicely. And, for a slightly unrelated reason, it makes me want to find an old copy of Heavy Gear 2.
