False Starts

Everyone jumps the gun from time to time. It can be hard to contain your excitement. There were more than a few false starts with the launch of Amazon Australia but it finally happened.

What about you, do you have any memorable stories involving a false start?

Me? I'm boring. I don't really have any good stories to tell.

However my dog is the master of the false start. Every morning when I go to walk her, she will sit impatiently at the back door for me to put her harness on. Every morning when I go to put her harness on, she bolts out the front door and bounces around at the gate.

Maybe I should've trained her better. Maybe definitely.

Anyhow, what's your best story involving a false start?

I remember one year when McDonald's was running their Monopoly competition, I was on holiday when I got the "Mayfair" ticket. I knew, knew that I had the corresponding "Park Place" ticket at home, and I was so excited that I was running around all holiday telling everyone how I had won a home entertainment system.

The first thing I did when I got home was to pull out my little stash of previously collected tickets. When I saw that I had a matching ticket to my newly collected "Mayfair", and not the set that I thought I had, I vowed to drop the subject and play dumb if any of my extended family ever brought it up.

I did the same when I thought I had won $10,000 on a scratchie, only for my mum to tell me that I had in fact scratched off two "$10,000" amounts and one "$100,000" amount, and won nothing.

    I'm not great with details

Skyrim broke street date at my local EB and my mate could not stop talking about and posting pictures of his ultimate edition bundle that he picked up and how he had the day off and was going to play it early. He got home and installed it only for Steam to refuse to open it because it "wasn't released yet". He was more than a little upset
