GTA Online’s Doomsday Heists Takes Players Inside Mount Chilliad (With Jetpacks)

Jet packs, flying cars, underwater cars and a trip inside the mysterious Mount Chilliad — all that and more look like they will be part of The Doomsday Heist, a surprise “epic new online adventure” Rockstar announced today for Grand Theft Auto Online. It will be out on December 12.

GTA Online players have spent years trying to unravel the mystery of Mount Chilliad, deciphering glyphs, analysing clues and poking about UFOs.

Their years of tireless investigating may finally be coming to a head with “The Doomsday Heist.” As one Redditor put it, “r/chilliadmystery just busted a nut at the sight of that jet pack.”

Here’s the trailer.

Pretty epic, right? It feels more like a trailer for story DLC than a simple online heist, though this is definitely a GTA Online thing. We’ve got familiar faces banding together, a global conspiracy and the “total annihilation” of San Andreas is on the table. While such an event would do wonders for the country’s crime stats, we probably don’t want that.

Here’s the full description for The Doomsday Heist from Rockstar:

A billionaire tech mogul, an idealistic intelligence agent, a socially awkward conspiracy theorist and a neurotic supercomputer have been forced into an unlikely alliance to save San Andreas from total annihilation. As apocalyptic threats mount from enemies unknown, you and your criminal crew are enlisted to un-tangle mysteries and eradicate threats spanning from the bustling streets of downtown Los Santos to the ocean floor and all the way to the inner depths of Mount Chiliad in an epic new online adventure.

While not particularly invested in the Mount Chilliad mystery, I am totally in it for jet packs.
