The board game renaissance shows no signs of slowing down, which means a new one based on Sonic the Hedgehog was bound to happen! OK... that might be a stretch, but not much of one apparently: If you check out Kickstarter, you'll find Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers, a game that lets you race against four others and face an optional boss character from the world of Sega's classic platformer.
The game, developed by Shinobi 7 (Tokyo Ghoul, Tales of Equestria), will come with the following four characters, with a fifth included as a Kickstarter bonus:
- Super Sonic (KS only)
The idea is to race around a modular track that is generated as the game plays, with players using "Agility cards" to increase their speed and dodge obstacles. Each character also has a special power.
If you want, you can toss in a boss to up the difficult, which is controlled by the game.
Right now, the project is sitting at $45,680 of its $64,266 goal, though with 21 days to go, it should make the cut.
If you're keen, the base game, without Kickstarter goodies, will set you back $US50 ($64), while the full caboodle is $US100 ($129). This doesn't include shipping, which will vary from $US20-$US45 ($25-$58) depending on where you are.
