After plenty of speculation and guessing, a new trailer shows The Witcher‘s Geralt of Rivia will be in Soulcalibur 6 after all.
Last week, CD Projekt Red’s community manager teased on Twitter that for the first time ever, Geralt might appear somewhere else besides a Witcher game. Soul Calibur 6 seemed to be the likeliest choice given the series’s penchant for pulling in odd characters ranging from The Legend of Zelda‘s Link to Yoda, and even Spawn. Bandai Namco’s latest trailer for the game confirms the cameo, and shows the witcher doing battle with Mitsurugi and others.
Doug Cockle returns to voice the white wolf and the fighter also appears to have access to his usual arsenal of signs, including the fire spell Igni and the knock back spell Aard. He’ll also have his own stage, the training grounds at Kaer Morhen, where the violins will playing around the clock.
Sure, the most diehard Wticher fans among us would love to see Geralt return for a new game in his own series, but given CD Projekt Red has its head down in the card game spin-off Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077 I’m happy to take a fighting game appearance over none at all.
Soulcalibur 6 is due out sometime later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Nice!
A couple of folks here called it when his appearance in an upcoming game was teased and I really hoped they we’re right!
Fuck yes! Geralt is THE DUDE! Witcher 3 was one of my favourite experiences of gaming in the last few years.
I’m really overdoing the fighting games right now, with Injustice 2 (it’s great) Tekken 6 (good but didn’t take me in) and SF V (they’ve lost their touch. Meh at best and way too much DLC) BUT I’m still looking out for the new Dragonball game AND maybe this as well.
The problem with fighting games is they’re way too complicated. You can only really play one at a time so if you buy a new one that you dig, the old one gets left behind. But if I can pick them up for under $40, I can rarely say no. Did anyone else play Injustice 2? Far out that is FUN. So well done. My kids love it too because they recognise all the characters from Teen Titans and Young Justice.
Lol, somebody is misusing the voting system (No surprise there)
Nobody here deserved a downvote.
Maybe he didn’t like the swearing? It’s cool. But thanks!
Yeah i have no clue why @nido downvoted these comments. What reason could you have to downvote people saying they are excited for this other than being a twat?
I hear ya on the playing of multiple fighters at once. I got Injustice 2 at launch, played a few hours and then resigned to the fact I’m not ready yet.
I’m still hooked on GG Xrd and KoF XIV.
I miss SFV, but I’m not paying for all the characters because fuck that.
It’s been odd how quickly the DLC wave has turned me away from titles.
Yeah. I was sooo ready to love SF V. Pre-ordered on PS4 and PC. And then it hit and I was just like… not feeling it.
And then they started releasing paid costumes at a ridiculous rate. I want quality, I don’t feeling like I’m being gouged.
Injustice 2 is really awesome man. I can’t believe what a great job they did. I didn’t think I could get into a Mortal Kombat style fighter but it works really well.
Yeah they kinda pimped SFV out and made it less awesome.
I will get into Injustice 2, it’s just gonna require me to knuckle down and learn. It’s very rhythm based with the execution and last time I played I was too impatient to time my inputs.
It’s a tricky game to master!
I’m a total noob at it still. Some basic combos, that’s it. But the presentation is top notch! And it’s fun!
I haven’t been a serious player since the glory days of SF4. I loved it, but honestly? I’m never going to put that much time into a game ever again. I have responsibilities and other priorities now.
I’ll always be a gamer, but I’m totally cool with staying as a total amateur. Fun is fun though!
As a Soul Calibur fan and Geralt tragic, this makes me happy in my pants.
I could watch Geralt and Mitsurugi fight all damn day!
Not a Witcher fan but have to admit that he’s a great choice, i really hope we get a Dark Souls character as well though, considering Bandai Namco own both.
i am most certainly getting Soul Caliber now
But no-one can beat Geralt. He da best.
Soul Calibur has long been my favourite fighting game series, and Geralt is such a perfect fit for it. Can. Not. Wait.
Hear hear!
I’m also a little excited that it’s being done as reboot/revisit. (Only just found that out after wondering why my beautiful bearded Mitsurugi looked so young)
While its hands down my favourite fighter since the days of Soul Blade, it had kinda run away from itself by SC5.
