Sega Shows Off Revving Car In 'Sonic R' Teaser Clip

Image: Sega

A car. Revving. Headlights turn on. Logo in darkness, except for a shiny red and gold "R". Fade to black. That's the 22-second clip described in 17 words, but I won't blame you if you want to watch it yourself.

And here it is:

According to VentureBeat's Mike Minotti, the clip was shown at the end of Sega's panel during South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

You only need one guess to figure out it's a new Sonic-themed racing game, but that's where the details end. Apparently, nothing else was shown, so for now, we'll just call it Sonic R... which is more than appropriate.

Let the speculation commence.

Pumped! If Sumo Digital is behind this, then it'll be another must-have Sonic racer.

And unpopular opinion, Sonic R isn't that bad. I got it on release, and it was pretty well received at the time. It doesn't have a huge amount of content, and if I'm being honest it hasn't aged all that well, but I still play it a lot. The controls are pretty good once you get over the learning curve.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed are still great games though.
