Strongmen Are Going To Pull A Tank For World Of Tanks

How would you market the launch of a massive overhaul to World of Tanks? You’d get the competitors in a strongman competition to see who is the fastest at pulling an eight tonne tank across ten metres.

Of course you would. It’s what Wargaming is doing to promote World of Tanks 1.0 so it’s how everyone would approach this situation.

Strongmen compete by doing some of the most ridiculous physical feats imaginable. They lift logs, throw kegs and carry large weights over short distances in an event known as the Farmer’s Walk. I feel like I’m underselling this.

Humans should not be capable of these things. Strongmen are. It’s brilliant.

So why not pull a tank as well? The concept isn’t entirely ridiculous. At least not ridiculous by strongman standards. Other strongman competitions have featured truck or tractor pulls so the general concept has been done before. Just not a tank. Which means the winner of the event is going to set a Guinness World Record for fastest time to pull a tank over 10 metres.

But come March next year, that’s exactly what the free-to-play shell-a-thon will be getting.”]

The tank pull is a part of the Arnold Strongman Pro competition that will happen this weekend at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center as part of the Arnold Sports Festival.

If you’re only interested in the tank pull, it starts at 12:00 AEDT Saturday, March 17. Anyone who is curious but not in Melbourne can watch it streamed over on the World of Tanks Facebook page.

You never know, maybe they’ll wear a World of Tanks helmet while attempting the pull.

Speaking of World of Tanks, that is the whole reason a group of giant men are going to take turns trying to move an eight tonne tank. The 1.0 update is launching soon and promises a significant graphical overhaul alongside a new soundtrack recorded by the Prague Symphony Orchestra.

World of Tanks 1.0 is currently in beta and will launch soon.
