This Week In Games: Crash And Burn(out)

Remember the good old days of video games where you could drive cars fast and crash them into things? Now you can relive those glory days with Burnout Paradise Remastered. If that’s not your speed, there’s also Surviving Mars – a city-building simulator that will have you quoting The Martian – and a whole bunch of other games out this week.

In no particular order, here’s a list of games coming out this week.

  • Beast Quest (PC)
  • Devil May Cry HD Collection (PC, PS4, XBO)
  • Burnout Paradise Remastered (PS4, XBO)
  • Kirby Star Allies (Switch)
  • Pure Farming 2018 (PC, PS4, PSVR, XBO)
  • Q.U.B.E. 2 (PC, PS4, XBO)
  • Tesla vs. Lovecraft (PS4, XBO)
  • Surviving Mars (PC, PS4, XBO)
  • The Council – Episode 1 (PC, PS4, XBO)

An open world experiment in the high-adrenaline uses for petrol, Burnout Paradise Remastered is a great game from the last generation of consoles brought back for another round.

Manipulate the world around you with magic gloves in Q.U.B.E. 2. A first-person puzzle game and sequel to the pretty rad Q.U.B.E.

Prepare to lose many, many hours of your life to Surviving Mars

Kirby Star Allies lets you hurl hearts at enemies to overwhelm them with the power of friendship.

Pure Farming 2018 asks the question “What if you want to play a farming simulator that isn’t Farming Simulator?”

    Then play Stardew Valley…

    • I think Burnout 3:Takedown was the purest Burnout game, in terms of what made it different to other racers, but the open world nature of Paradise really worked for me. The only thing that makes me prefer a remaster of 3 over Paradise though is that Paradise isn’t all that old.

Many PS4 owners still have their PS3 running around, while Takedown was a PS2 title, so that little bit older. I’ll most likely get Paradise Remastered when it hits the mid year sales prices.

  • I watched a trailer for The Council on the weekend, looks great, not sure how that crept up all at once but I’m now hyped to play a game this week that last week I didn’t know existed.

    • Seems most of the allure pages have gone to a dynamic list now, where it just updates when you get to the bottom of the page and adds the next lot. No proper Page 1, 2, 3, etc but it still does the same thing.

      • Actually didn’t they do this once before? I feel like I remember it screwing up with my mobile browser for a bit before it got adjusted or something so that the Next Page buttons were there if the auto load thing failed.

  • There is a crash mode indie on steam. crash zone or something like that. Seems like the crash zones from BO2 distilled into its own game. Anyone tried it? Is it worthy?
