Crysis came out over 10 years ago and to this day, it'll still melt the odd underpowered GPU if you let it. If you want to make extra sure your graphics card turns to molten plastic while running Crytek's classic shooter, a modder has released a "10th Anniversary" pack containing over 2GB of high-definition textures.
The modder, who goes by the name of "condros", uploaded the texture pack last week and according to the description, it's not only compatible with the original Crysis, but Warhead and Wars as well.
Unfortunately, the ModDB page doesn't show any comparison shots, just screenshots with the mod installed. As such, it's hard to see how big an impact the HD textures make.
According to condros, the textures were sourced from CryEngine 3.5.8 and Crysis 3: The Lost Island, with the goal being to make the game look better, while maintaining the same feel:
At this time, textures are specially chosen so that there is no drastic change of appearance of the game. Everything is done in order to leave the original "atmosphere" of the original of 2007, but with higher quality textures.
