Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is getting a battle royale mode, developer Treyarch said today, following in the footsteps of PUBG and Fortnite with a mode called Blackout. It confirms Kotaku‘s report from last month that Activision will be the first major publisher to join the battle royale craze.
Treyarch did not say how many people this mode will support, but did say that it will round up Black Ops characters from the past and support battles across land, air, and sea. Yep, that means vehicles.
Kotaku editor-in-chief Stephen Totilo points out that maybe it should have been called Call of Duty: Black Ops 4tnite, which is why he’s in charge of Kotaku and we’re not. This is likely the first of many battle royale games we’ll see between now and E3 in June.

So, no singleplayer, is on Battle.net rather than Steam, and is being charged at full AAA pricing.
Is this how you kill a series?
i posted somewhere else but being on BNet makes sense tbh.
Blizzard has a decade plus history with WoW as well current experience with HotS and Destiny 2. It makes technical sense to leverage a robust all encompassing infrastructure unless I missed the news that Steam also has their own servers allowing creators to host games.
While I imagine this might impact sales slightly I think ultimately the make or break is whether anyone cares about a MP only CoD Black Ops
the series died years ago when they just kept bringing out the same game with just updated graphics… this is their only way back in, if they stuff this up then the game is good as dead imo…
Did not expect vehicles. Quite surprised.
Yeah vehicles both land and sky will at least make this stand out from the rest.
Yawn
Don’t know why they don’t stick to the same formula as they have already
Just doing what is popular and trying to make a game with everything will stretch it to far and ultimately diminish the game as a whole.
Also no single player campaign, that and zombies was all that I was buying Black Ops for, and the 3s zombies was shit.
Seems like Single Player is still there, just no 5 hour campaign. Instead it looks like “mini-campaigns” based on introducing the operator characters.
Yeah true just seems like placating to the small number of people that like more than just multiplier though.
Looks like the death of the single-player FPS is truly arriving.
Most of the recent cod games have all been very multiplayer centric. It seems like the solo campaigns are just there as an obligation almost.
So im not surprised, nor overly bothered. But i definitely dont agree with the price point unless there is huuuge amounts of content for thw multiplayer!
There will be, for those willing to pay for loot boxes
this game looks cod siege.
Call of battle fortnight grounds.
All this needs is domination on blackout and we have the new battleifield V (correctly roman numeraled)
