Resident Evil 7 Gets A Switch Port, But Only In Japan

It’s not listed on the English version of the website yet, but on YouTube and in Japanese is a Switch version of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

It’s being called the Cloud Version, which made me think there was a Final Fantasy cross-over at some point. Being chased around a haunted house by Cloud would be kind of screwed.

But alas, that’s not the case. It’s basically a version of Resident Evil 7 that streams to the Switch, with users paying ¥2000 for 180 days of play.

The video below doesn’t outline any specifics about the streaming, but the description notes that the download size is only 45MB, far too small for the game itself.

Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version hits Japan later this week, and will only be made available in Japan. If the technology works, however, it could be an interesting alternative down the road for other users who want to play higher-end games on the Switch.
