There’s bugger all info available at the moment, but fans of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. can rejoice: you’re getting a sequel.
An official website popped up early this morning with little more than a title and a date of “2021”. That’s not a whole lot to go on, and at first glance looks a little suspect.
But to help quell concerns, the owner of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developers GSC Gameworld, Sergiy Grygorovych, confirmed via Facebook that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was real. Why the studio is announcing a game three years out is a little unusual, although it’s not known how long GSC has spent on development so far.
Still, it’s great news. A new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is like a Russian Half-Life 3. It’s the sequel some thought wouldn’t get made, even though they’ve been lobbying for aeons. And it’ll be fun to see what a proper S.T.A.L.K.E.R. follow-up looks like, especially with the advancement in game engines over the years and the directions fans took the original through some thoroughly impressive mods.
