TIE Bombers from The Empire Strikes BackImage: Lucasfilm
The First Order in the new Star Wars trilogy has an imposing fleet, but there’s one notable gap in its set of ship designs: a TIE Bomber. So one fan decided to fix it.
Prolific video creator EC Henry, who specialises in Star Wars videos, took to his favoured design software, Star Wars ships past and present on his mind, and built his own: an ambitious, evolutionary take on the Empire’s TIE Bomber, complete with heavy defences and the iconic double-cockpit design from the original.
I really like what Henry does with it here, especially with the manifolds. It’s like an evil Y-Wing crossed with a B-25 bomber. Chilling.
If a real TIE Bomber gets debuted in Episode IX, we can only hope it’s this compelling to look at.

Well goddamn talk about the Mandella effect in full swing. I was SURE there were Tie Bombers in TLJ or TFA? I was positive. So I googled, I skimmed through the movies. I even saw some pictures online with the Gorilla Walkers thinking “Awesome, there they are!” so I went to my copy of TLJ, had a look and….. nope. No Tie Bombers. That’s a bad photoshop!
The dude made a kickass looking First Order Tie Bomber, I hope they come up with something as awesome as that 🙂
Man, even in the fandom we still are stuck in the “let’s just do the OT again but with new paint” mentality.
Come on guys, try harder.
That describes the First Order though doesn’t it? Trying to be something new and extreme, however they’re the same old problem, just with a new lick of paint?
It’s not just the First Order though. Are the Resistance X-Wings much more than a palette swap of the Rebellion version?
Yes. Theyre actually a full redesign going back to original artwork. The body and sfoils are different.
I think this is more a comment on the movies themselves being a re-skin of the originals.
I do believe the movies are pretty much a reboot of the originals as there is really no originality in the plot or characters.
You know when TFA first came out I sort of agreed but felt the retread necessary. But when TLJ became a retread of ESB? Yeesh…
LEGO version please
