ASUS ROG Scar And Hero 2: Australian Pricing

You’re never far away from a gaming laptop at Computex, and this year the gaming offering got pride of place as manufacturers refreshed their lines with newer processors and better panels. ASUS followed suit with their ROG line, unveiling the latest iterations of the 15.6″ ROG Strix Scar and Hero models, both of which will now ship with 144Hz screens.

There’s a ton of similarity between the two models: either spec of the Hero and Scar II ships with the same 144Hz 3ms GTG 1080p 15.6″ screen, they all come with 16GB 2666MHz memory, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 support, and the hexacore i7-8750H (2.2Ghz/4.1GHz) Intel CPU.

The main differentiator between the Hero and Scar models is really a slight adjustment in spec: the Scar has a higher optional spec in terms of storage and a GTX 1070; the Hero will only ship with a GTX 1060.

The ROG STRIX GL504GM (which is the Hero II, and the baseline Scar II just for added confusion) will be available in Australia from $2699. The GL504GS is the beefier model of the Hero II, sporting a GTX 1070 instead of a GTX 1060, but pricing and availability isn’t known yet.

One visual difference between the Hero and Scar is the keyboard: the WASD keys are marked on the SCAR II, while the QWER keys are marked on the HERO II. Both keyboards are backlit chiclet, however.

Both laptops will be available from early July through ASUS directly, as well as Harvey Norman and “select channel partners”.
