I’ve never actually played a David Cage game; I end up watching them on YouTube since they’re already so cinematic. Could Heavy Rain‘s inclusion in July’s PS Plus lineup change my trend? (Probably not.) As always, these games are only “free” if you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
July’s PlayStation Plus lineup is:
PlayStation 4
- Heavy Rain
- Absolver
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (bonus announced at E3, available until July 11)
PlayStation 3
- Rayman 3 HD
- Extreme Exorcism
PlayStation Vita
- Space Overlords (also on PS4)
- Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma

Got rid of my ps plus sub months ago. Only even play their stellar list of single player exclusives. all multi plat and multi player are on the X
So why are you here then?
Looks like we have a conversation arbiter
Sounds like what you should have done is get rid of the X.
Why would I want to downgrade my gaming experience?
Worse online
Worst OS
Worse graphics
Worse options
Absolute rubbish controller
I feel Absolver is quick to go from release to free but it’s appreciated!
Presumably it didn’t sell as well as expected / hoped. It certainly didn’t seem to get much hype – lack of marketing budget, perhaps? I heard it was pretty good, but it’s never really been on my radar. I suppose I’ll at least try it now.
Apparently not much longevity to the single-player component and the multi endgame is too convoluted to match up on. Feels like they never really nailed who they were trying to target or tried to get that target audience too far out of their comfort zone.
Yeah I honestly didn’t expect that one, pleasantly surprised.
Yeah I’m totally going to check it out.
Yeah, that’s been on my wishlist for a while, pending a decent enough sale and some free time, but it’s gonna be impossible to go past at ‘free’.
That game looked really interesting. I’m keen to try it.
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma is my headliner by far
I’ll finally get to play Heavy Rain. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, but there’s always been other games I’ve wanted to play/buy. Really looking forward to it.
Eeeeeewww… heavy rain, like all David cage games, is cringeworthy and awful.
That main character: most punchable face ever
Well it’s a lot better than Beyond Two Souls, at least 😛
It’s good for what it is. A QTE filled campy story with minimal branching.
I enjoyed going back to the bits where specific characters look like they’re in mortal danger and hilariously stuffing up. You then at that point realise how limiting the choices in the game actually are.. but like telltale games, they give the illusion of choice.
“JASON! JAAAASON!! JAASOOON!”
*mashes X button*
“Make sure the kid eats and does his homework before his Mum comes to pick him up.”
*figures out how to use the microwave*
Beeeep!
“OK, I’m here to pick up the kid. WTF, I told you to feed him and make sure he does his homework!”
THAT WAS ONLY FIVE FUCKING MINUTES! WE BARELY SAID HELLO!
As my name is Jason. I’m kind of excited to lose myself in Heavy Rain
lol actually might check out black ops 3. probably sucks, but it’s one of the cods I never played much of.
I wish they’d add persona 5…so unsure as to whether or not I’d like it so too scared to buy it haha
