Capcom has a rough track record when it comes to its PC ports. So, while it looks like the Resident Evil 2 remake won’t need a billion-dollar PC to run, I’m keeping my optimism set to “cautious”.
It shouldn’t come as a massive shock that the system requirements, visible now via the game’s preorder page on Steam, are almost identical to those of Resident Evil 7.
Given the game’s delicious fidelity, particularly in the gore department, I was expecting a higher minimum. But that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Minimum | Recommended | |
OS | Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 (64-bit required) | |
Processor | Intel i5-4460 2.7GHz or AMD FX-6300 | Intel i7-3770 or AMD FX-9590 |
Memory | 8GB | |
Graphics | GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon R7 260x 2GB | GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 480 3GB |
DirectX | Version 11 |
The January 25, 2019 release date is as expected and in terms of pricing, it’s $US59.99 ($80.62) for the regular version and $US69.99 ($94.06) for the “Deluxe Edition”.
What do you get for paying $US10 ($14) more? Here you go:
- Leon Costume: “Arklay Sheriff”
- Leon Costume: “Noir”
- Claire Costume: “Military”
- Claire Costume: “Noir”
- Claire Costume: “Elza Walker”
- Deluxe Weapon: “Samurai Edge – Albert Model”
- “Original Ver.” Soundtrack Swap
Not sure if it’s worth it for some costumes, a sword and a bit of music, but to each their own!
5 Minutes From The Resident Evil 2 Remake
If the prospect of Resident Evil 2 in 4K without tank controls sounds good, then you will really enjoy the next 5 minutes. Capcom dropped a slice of footage on YouTube early this morning, sans commentary.
