I’ve been meaning to play Mafia 3 since it came out, and now that it’s one of August’s PlayStation Plus games, I might finally do it. As ever, these games are only “free” if you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
August’s PlayStation Plus games are:
PlayStation 4
- Mafia 3
- Dead by Daylight
PlayStation 3
- Bound by Flame
- Serious Sam 3 BFE
PlayStation Vita
- Draw Slasher
- Space Hulk
PlayStation VR
- Here They Lie
PlayLink
- Knowledge Is Power

Been curious for both these games. Dunno if i will have time to play mafia 3 as i still have the witcher 3 in my backlog. But nice to have!
None of these games should take precedence over The Witcher 3, in my opinion 🙂
I know!! Its just so daunting to start a sprawling open world rpg. 🙁
With the PS Plus games, I get that they are only available while you have an active subscription, but what happens if it lapses?
Do you permanently lose access to that library of games you’ve built up, or do you get them back if you resubscribe? I’m thinking of it lapsing for just a couple of days, not months at a time – my sub expires at Christmas, when I may be on holiday somewhere and simply forget to get it redone in time.
Do you have to restart, or do the games you’ve had access to all that time become available again?
You do get them back if you re-subscribe.
Resubscribe and you get access to everything you have built up.
You also don’t have to wait for it to expire to renew it. You can renew at any time and it will just extend your subscription for 12 months from its current expiry date. I’m paid up until something like 2020 because I’ve bought a few extensions when it’s been on sale. Cheaper than paying full price when it actually expires.
Yeah, know that much. I get a 12 month resub at Christmas, and buy one for my nephew as his Chrissy pressie. That and a $20 steam card is a simple and effective present, and a reminder. Usually put the code in between Chrissy and New Year, and add to the ‘balance’.
Just more thinking that I also travel at Christmas, so sooner or later will forget to punch the code in before I take off somewhere. So if it expires on Jan 4 and I put a code in on Jan 8, was just wondering if things will still be there.
Their website doesn’t help in the slightest, just repeating ad nauseum that you need an active subscription to access PS Plus. @slipp3r gave the answer I was looking for.
Wait for a good deal, then resub. They often have 25% off 12 months.
Don’t really need to worry about saving $20. Not rich by any stretch (unless you compare me to 3rd would countries), but I don’t struggle either. As a once a year thing, the $80 price isn’t so bad I think its ripping me off.
