Screen Queensland Adds Game Developer To Its Board

Screen Queensland has added a number of new directors to their board and one of them is Morgan Jaffit, co-founder and Creative Director of Defiant Development. Jaffit is the first game developer to be added to their ranks.

Morgan Jaffit’s work at Defiant includes Hand of Fate 2 and he was previously on the board of Game Developers’ Association of Australia.

“Mr Jaffit is a passionate advocate for fostering local talent to position Brisbane as an innovative digital hub, and has considerable experience in supporting the industry at a strategic level, having worked on the Board of the Game Developers’ Association of Australia,” said Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk in a press release.

Screen Queensland, in conjunction with the Queensland Government, launched their Game Development and Marketing iniative earlier this year to try and capture a greater share of Australia’s game development sector.

“This was a priority set down in the Advance Queensland 10-year Screen Industry Roadmap and marks the start of an exciting phase of investment and development, with growth in the gaming sector contributing an additional $21 million to the economy compared to 2016-17,” said Palaszczuk.
