Blizzard President Mike Morhaime Steps Down, J. Allen Brack Takes Over

In a release this morning, Activision Blizzard has announced that Blizzard president Mike Morhaime will be replaced in his role by World of Warcraft executive producer J. Allen Brack.

The release on Activision’s investor portal says that Blizzard founder Allen Adham — who left Blizzard and video games in 2004 to start a quantitative hedge fund, before rejoining in 2016 — and chief development officer Ray Gresko would be joining Blizzard’s upper executive, while Morhaime would “remain a strategic advisor to the company”.

“It has been an honor to serve this community for over 27 years, and I thank you for your many years of support. I look forward to being a member of the community alongside you,” Morhaime said in a public blog post.

J. Allen Brack, who previously worked at Origin Systems on the Wing Commander series and at Sony Online Entertainment on Star Wars Galaxies, added that Blizzard was “working on more games now” than at any point in the company’s history.

“BlizzCon, the IRL representation of our connection with the community, is just a month away and it’s a time of the year that Blizzard employees look forward to the most. And as usual, we have a few surprises.”
