Good Morning, Here's Onimusha Running On The Switch

Capcom announced the Onimusha remaster earlier this year, but what if you want to be a katana wielding warrior on the go? Well, good news.

Footage of the Switch version was published overnight by Capcom. Samanosuke's adventure launches on January 15, 2019 on all platforms (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One), but this is the first Switch footage available.

Onimusha tells the story of samurai Samanosuke Akechi as he tries to rescue a princess in feudal Japan. Released for the PS2, the re-release will have support for analog sticks, an easier difficulty option, remastered graphics and support for widescreens.

It'll be interesting to see people's appetite for this in 2019. Fixed third-person cameras were predominately a technical limitation, rather than a deliberate design choice. It's not the kind of control system you think would automatically appeal to those who have grown up with more flexible, more modern control systems and viewpoints, but we'll see. Maybe Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams will get a remaster one day.

When I read the title I first thought "hell yeah!!".

Then I watched the video and realized this game hasn't dated so well.

100% agree with that sentiment... This had made me go from 'very interested' to 'maybe if Capcom ever puts it on sale for 70% off'

If they use the control options from RE-Master where you point the analogue stick where you want to go - it might work.
But if they make us use pivot-tank controls it will seem even more dated than it already is

Strangely enough I liked the first one the least. Three was my favourite. Four I gave up on the second disc. Something about late gen ps2 graphics looked super grainy.

Still looks awesome to me. Loved the first 2 games. 3rd wasn't bad either. Watching that video, makes me want to fire up pcsx2 and enjoy some demon slaying :).
