New Microsoft Surface Range: Australian Price, Specs And Release Date

Earlier today Microsoft announced three new Surface devices – The Surface Pro 6, Surface Studio 2 and Surface laptop 2. Here’s how much they’ll cost in Australia, what you can find under the hoods and when you can get them.

Surface Pro 6

It may not have USB-C, but the Pro 6 does have some nice updates – like an 8th-Gen processor (i5-8250U or i7-8650U) and 8GB base of RAM, which can be upgraded to 16GB. And let’s not forget that new matte black finish. Pricing starts at $1349.

  • 12.3-inch 2736 x 1824 PixelSense display
  • Windows 10 Home OS
  • Intel Core 8th Gen i5/i7 CPU
  • 8GB/16GB RAM
  • 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB storage
  • Up to 13.5 hours battery life
  • 8MP rear and 5MP front cameras
  • USB 3.0, mini DisplayPort, Surface Connector ports
  • Platinum or matte black colour options
  • 292 x 201 x 8.5 mm, 770g

Surface Studio 2

It’s been two years since the first Surface Studio was launched. Oddly, it’s not getting an 8th-Gen processor like every other device in the range, which is a bit of a worry with the 9th-Gens dropping rumoured to be dropping in the next few months.

But it will be sporting a NVIDIA Pascal graphics card. And thank god, because the last generation shipped with an already-outdated GPU, so this upgrade has been needed for awhile.

Pricing will start at a $5,499, and only gets more expensive if you want 32GB RAM ($6,599) and 2TB storage ($7,499). Considering the 7th Gen CPU, this is a lot of money. This is a huge chunk of change, to say the least – especially when you take the 7th-Gen processor into consideration.

Surface Laptop 2

Like the Pro 6, the second gen Surface laptop will also come with 8GB RAM and an 8th Gen processor, have the same upgrade options, and no USB-C. Pricing will start at $1,499.
