Watch The Last Super Smash Bros Ultimate Direct Here

It'll be the last official info dump before the game's launch. So if you've got 40 minutes to spare (in the wee hours of the morning), then join us.

The conference will kick off at 0100 AEDT / 0030 ACST / 0300 NZDT this Friday, or 2200 Thursday evening for those in Western Australia. Nintendo says the direct will run for approximately 40 minutes, and that it'll be the final Direct before the game's launch.

You can watch the stream below through Nintendo UK's YouTube channel. It'll also let you set a notification which automatically converts into the local time of your YouTube account, if you need.

There's one major item on the start menu that Nintendo hasn't revealed yet - probably a story or solo mode of some description. Beyond that, this would be the last opportunity to confirm or unveil new characters, any tournament or esports-centric features, matchmaking and any casual or party modes before release.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate launches for the Switch on December 7. You can catch up with all the stages, characters and tidbits already revealed on the official site.

I'm still surprised at the lack of "Grinch leak" coverage on Kotaku.
It's a novel in itself. A disgruntled employee, a treacherous friend, a war of believers and deniers scanning over every pixel of a tiny image, and the Grinch himself - the Grinch. Seven newcomers, Sakurai's previous statements, a budding friendship with Microsoft - hopes and dreams.

There's a lot to cover, but the shortest summary is that if this leak is true, we're looking at 5 newcomers and 2 echo fighters: Mach Rider from Mach Rider, Isaac from Golden Sun, Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven, Geno from Super Mario RPG, and Banjo & Kazooie from Banjo Kazooie; Shadow the Hedgehog from whatever Sonic game he comes from and Ken from Street Fighter, dubbed the original Echo fighter.

There has been so much compelling "evidence" supporting these fighters and the leak itself, and most scrutiny has failed. A lot of people on twitter and other forums who claim to have "insiders" feeding them information have largely decried the leak, but they largely can't agree on what characters will be announced, so it should be assumed they're all full of shit and are just attentionwhores.

The last week or however long it's been has been crazy and my hype meters are off the charts. Lucky for me, I've swapped shifts with a co-worker which means I can stay up and have my dreams dashed in front of me. It's gonna be sick!

There is literally an article on Kotaku about the "Smash Bros Fans Are At War Over Whether The Latest Rumours Are True", although I do not know if the AU staff have reposted it to the local site.

Do we really need another direct for this game? Wouldnt most want a direct on stuff other than Smash? Of which we just about know everything anyway?

It is the biggest game coming out this year for a Nintendo platform, why wouldn't most want a direct about it? There was loads of new stuff released. We got 3 new fighters and a whole lot of info about online and single player stuff.

Yes ferret this is will be the last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct for 2018.
No ferret we are not getting another Nintendo Direct other than Smash.
Because Nintendo president Shuntaro Furakawa has announced that Nintendo is planning to add more DLC for big Switch games that are already out and they include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Tennis Aces and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Now with the last ever Super Smash Bros. Ultimate starting tomorrow morning at 1am I will be asleep but not to worry though I will watch the replay on YouTube and I hope the Grinch leak is true because I definitely want to see Banjo and Kazooie added as newcomers as Microsoft Executive Phil Spencer said earlier this year that he is open to the idea to bring Banjo and Kazooie on to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

I enjoyed that, when they started with spirits and they were leaning towards it not being a story mode, i was crushed.
Then he went and pulled that ending. Oh Sakurai. You are a master.

Thank god they walked us through the options menu. That would have confused the hell out of me.

K.Rool and Ridley should have been held back for this direct. This one was anti-hype. No more goddamn Pokémon
