Geralt Is Coming To Monster Hunter: World

It won’t be released until early next year, but the White Wolf will be making his way into Capcom’s New World.

The announcement was revealed as part of a “special developer update” video – a little akin to a Nintendo Direct in some ways – that was livestreamed overnight. Featuring MHW producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, the stream revealed a crossover with The Witcher that would incorporate some features of CD Projekt’s grand RPG into the Capcom series.

“This collaboration also features unique quests that inject the immersive RPG into the experience of The Witcher 3 into the gameplay of Monster Hunter World,” Tsujimoto said. “We’re bringing you a brand-new experience never before seen in the Monster Hunter series.”

Along with some footage of Geralt in-game, the livestream also revealed the next major expansion: Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, due to launch next autumn. It’s an expansion to an ice world that would be the size of previous Monster Hunter Ultimate or G-style games, and it’ll be released first for consoles with plans “to develop versions for PC as well”.

Beyond that, Kulve Taroth would be making a return as an arch-tempered monster in a special siege that will run from December 20 until January 4 Australian time. An arch-tempered version of Nergigante will make an appearance next year, as will the Appreciation Fest with a series of special quests.

You can see more details through the livestream below, which starts from 10:10.
