Sure, the Switch is so much more than a glorified, portable nostalgia device. But it’s also worth remembering: it’s still a really good nostalgia device, especially when games like Out Run pop up.

The timeless racer is getting re-released on the Switch today under the SEGA Ages program. It’s functionally the same game you know and love, although the track list has been updated a little. SEGA also noted that they’ve added a few easter eggs:

Out Run will set you back $10.95 on the Aussie eShop, which is a fraction better than the US$7.99 international price.

  • Sadly, this game has not aged well.

Would have been better off porting the PS3 / 360 Outrun game that Sumo made, but I think the Ferrari licence expired on that so you can’t even buy those versions any more.

    • It did expire, but they should renew it! Spend money on marketing, they could break even or make profit after spending money on license renewal.

OUTRUN 2 is clearly what we need. Getting Outrun 1 is silly.

  • What @camm said or Modern Vintage Gamer ported outrun to the switch last year. On that note he is an Aussie with a great YouTube channel. Worth a watch and he knows his stuff. He has been releasing ports to homebrew for years. He did some great stuff on the og Xbox days and since. Great channel and very knowledgeable.

But I really can’t wait for Sega ages to start porting Naomi hardware based games. Really want some great Dreamcast games on my switch. I would easily pay triple the above amount for Capcom vs snk 2 or similar. Powerstone anyone?
