Google CEO: Not Much Of A Gamer, Loves Ashes Cricket

We’ve talked a fair bit about the effects of this morning’s Google announcement, but something that flew under the radar a little was a tidbit from Google’s CEO at the start of the conference.

The gaming announcement kicked off with Sundar Pichai, the chief executive of Google. And he started by admitting that he wasn’t really much of a gamer, although he did have a soft spot for FIFA 19, and the Australian-made Ashes Cricket in particular.

“For those of you who are wondering what cricket is, it’s kind of like baseball, but better,” Pichai joked.

Cricket 19 is due for release on the Switch in May, having already come to PC and consoles. Obviously this doesn’t mean that a proper cricket game will end up on their Stadia streaming platform, but knowing that the Google CEO is a keen fan probably isn’t a half-bad way for Big Ant to get in the room.

And hey, imagine cricket AI run by data centres. I could get on board with that.
