Mortal Kombat 11 Sure Has A Lot Going On

Remember when Mortal Kombat was about saving Earth through a tournament? Well, the series has long moved past that now.

Netherrealm and Warner Bros have dropped a new story trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 online this morning. It basically outlines the problem facing heroes present and past: the Realms are facing a temporal armageddon, thanks to Raiden being a touch too brutal and Kronika, the Keeper of Time and the universe’s architect of destiny, deciding that she’s had enough with the current course of history.

So why not turn everything to shit? That’s forced a whole bunch of allies together, including one instance where it seems like we get new and old Johnny Cage in the same game.

Mortal Kombat 11 hits PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 23 locally, with a Switch version due out in May. I look forward to understanding how the hell all of this story wraps up, and how exactly you’re supposed to be a boss that manipulates time and space whenever they feel like it.
