Several Solid Games For Under $8

A drink these days will set you around $8, unless it’s happy hour. Alternatively, you could grab Rebel Galaxy, Grey Goo, a retro ’90s shooter, RIME, River City Ransom: Underground and more for less than that.

That’s the deal available through Fanatical’s Alliance Bundle right now. You’ve got two entry points, both of which have solid titles for bugger all. The first includes Grey Goo plus all the DLC, the excellent Rebel Galaxy space trucker, and Julian Gollop’s Chaos Reborn, for $1.55.

I’d argue that Rebel Galaxy alone is worth it for $1.55, although if you’re a fan of classic RTS games, you’ll get plenty of value from Grey Goo‘s campaign missions.

The second tier adds eight more games to the pack: the Journey-esque RIME, Ash of Gods, Hover, Immortal Redneck, The Town of Light, Brawlout, Heliborne and River City Ransom: Underground.

Heliborne is one for anyone who enjoyed playing Apache Longbow or HIND back in the ’90s, while The Town of Light is a story about a mental institution in the ’40s, back when the focus was detaining patients rather than treating them. Immortal Redneck is an Egyptian-themed retro FPS, and Hover is an open-world parkour game with some echoes of the Tony Hawk games.

The second tier is only $7.75, which isn’t a bad deal even if you only get into two or three games on the list. You’ll get Steam keys for all of the games, so you can gift some of the games away if necessary. More details on all the games, and the bundle, can be found here.
