It’s not that weird that Elon Musk, a bonkers individual who puts Atari games and Cuphead into his brand of electric vehicles, would turn up to E3. Sitting down for an hour with Todd Howard, on the other hand, very much is.
Geoff Keighley announced early this morning — just after Ubisoft and before the Square Enix presser — that the Tesla founder would be having an hour-long chat with the head of Bethesda Game Studios and one of the most memeable figures in video games, Todd Howard.
Just Announced: Thursday at #E3 Colisuem, @elonmusk in conversation with Todd Howard. Noon. You don’t want to miss this special 1 hour event.

It’s not a surprise that Keighley made the announcement — Musk tweeted just over a year ago that Twitter was the Dark Souls of media, while “Reddit is Bloodborne“. Unsurprisingly, Keighley made an advance to get Musk to appear at The Game Awards. It didn’t happen then, but it’s clear to see where the link was established:
We need to get you to @thegameawards this year!

Now, let’s take bets. How much of this hour long conversation will a) actually be about Bethesda video games, and b) will Elon try and get Skyrim working on a Tesla.
The chat’s due to take place around noon Las Vegas time on the Thursday, which works out to roughly 0500 AEST this Friday. Hopefully it’s something later than that, but we’ll see if anything … interesting comes of the conversation. I wonder if Elon’s a fan of Fallout 76.
