This Week In Games: Lying Watchers

We’re one week away from the return of the AAA blockbusters. But just before the onslaught begins, there’s a few very intriguing indies — including the next game from the maker of Her Story — and the latest RPG from the I Am Setsuna developers.

First cab off the rank is Telling Lies, which stars four actors recorded through private video conversations. The game places you in front of a laptop with an NSA database full of footage, and it’s your job to scrub through the videos to unravel the link between the four.

Also out this week is Tokyo RPG Factory’s ONINAKI, which Heather and I spent some time with separately when the demo dropped on the eShop. What we played in the early game was a little rote, but there’s some solid world building and style to make up for the simplicity of the combat. Combat-wise, there’s also Remnant: From The Ashes, which I’ve still not heard a great deal of.

A few games are getting retail re-releases this week, including Dead Cells with all the DLC, Terraria (for $60!) and the Red Faction remaster.

Here’s the leaderboard for the week. Keep in mind there’s a Nintendo direct with a bunch of indies this week, so there’ll no doubt be some surprises.
