Remember the gaming Batchairs? As it turns out, 11 of them have been nicked from an internet cafe in Adelaide, according to South Australia Police.

The official South Australia Police page has put call out over the weekend after 11 Secretlab Batman Dark Knight gaming chairs went missing. “Calling all caped (and non-caped) crusaders, we need your help,” the post says.

The chairs were stolen from ARENA Internet Cafe — police didn’t name the cafe, but they did name the street the cafe was on — on August 18 early in the morning. Police released two CCTV images of the suspect, which you can view below.

Having dealt with a few of these chairs before … 11 is a hell of a lot to move. Those boxes aren’t small. I remember the amount of flak we copped in the office over the Omega Napa because of how much space it was taking up.

In any case, police have asked for the public’s help in finding the chairs. Any information can be provided to the Crime Stoppers South Australian site, or via 1800 333 000. I’m sure ARENA would like their Batman (Batmen?) back.

  • The computers in the cafe would have been worth more but this guy went for bulky chairs that aren’t super limited since they’re still available for sale. What an oddly specific theft.

    • Easily, though I would wager the chairs are easier to flip, looks like they are still in their packaging where as the computers would require a fair bit of work to clean and shift.

Either way I think he’s gonna get pinched sooner than later.

  • Adelaide has Internet Cafes?

And before anyone starts, I’m originally from Adelaide so I have every right to poke fun at it.

    • As someone who sits in a chair 8-12 hours a day for work and another 3+ for gaming, I’ve tried (and broken from excess use) a lot of chairs. The gaming ones are actually quite good in terms of comfort and posture, the only downside I’ve had so far is the faux leather material degrades and starts to peel and flake rather easily.

      • Same here. I work from home and spend a long time in the chair so it makes sense to get such a chair.

Especially since I was only getting 12 to 16 months out of a “premium” desk chair. The one I have is still good after a few years.

      • They are actually good?
I’ve got some swanky office chair at home, I like a comfy chair, but avoided gaming chairs because they always seem to be too gimicky, I just want a chair. Plus I dont really know any where I can try one out to see if it’s actually comfy.

        • They’re not for everyone, but I’ve had better experiences with them than with mesh chairs. The main thing mesh chairs do better is airflow, but they’ve also consistently broken on me much sooner.

I definitely understand the need to test one out before buying. I was in the same boat but bit the bullet because my old chair was literally broken and I needed a new one. If you can at all find a way to try them out first, I recommend doing so.
