For the past several weeks there have been rumours regarding the next big set Lego has planned for its Star Wars range. The consensus was that it would have to be some sort of Imperial ship, and speculation was that it would be a redesigned version of the imperial Star Destroyer that first graced the screens back in 1977. This week Lego released a teaser, and it all but confirms that the speculation was correct.
Stay tuned for the reveal on September 5th! pic.twitter.com/5NG25ab3ab

There’s the Imperial March theme, long linked to Darth Vader, and the triangular shadow of a Star Destroyer looming over that dog’s chew toy. While the chew toy itself is probably irrelevant, the teases are clear: the next Star Wars Lego set is going to be a Star Destroyer. The only question is, which one?
My guess is that it’s the Super Star Destroyer Executor that served as Darth Vader’s flagship in The Empire Strikes Back. Not just because of Vader’s music of choice, but also because the tip of shadow in the teaser is quite narrow – and the Super Star Destroyers are longer and narrower than the standard model.
Plus we last got an original trilogy Star Destroyer in 2014, while the Super Star Destroyer hasn’t been seen since 2011. Here’s what I mean:
But I could be wrong and reading too much into the shadow. Considering the latest Rise of Skywalker trailer confirms the return of the classic Star Destroyer design it would make sense to bring that one back in some form.
We’re just going to have to wait until late this week to find out for sure. Or for Lego to release more teasers that give everything away.
