I’m Looking Forward To The Outer Worlds’ Humour

It’s been a pretty busy year, so now’s as good a time as any to remind you that Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds is coming out in just over a month. Typically, there’s a good dose of Obsidian cheek.

The latest trailer from the Fallout: New Vegas developers dropped over the weekend, showcasing most of the environments, types of characters, guns and, most importantly, humour you’ll encounter in The Outer Worlds.

There’s something visually about the trailer that’s a little distracting — it’s almost like it’s been oversharpened? — but I’m loving the range of colour, characters and combat approaches in Halcyon, which is the focus of the latest footage.

I can’t decide whether I’m keen on The Outer Worlds because it’s hitting the Fallout beats that I wanted from 76 but didn’t quite get, or whether it’s got a bit of Borderlands flavour without that Borderlands edge, if that makes sense.

The Outer Worlds hits PS4, Xbox One and PC (via the Epic Game Store) on October 25.

  • For PC players who are violently allergic to the Epic Game Store, Outer Worlds is also available on PC via XBox Game Pass for PC and the XBox app itself.

    • Interesting, I remember searching a while back to see if it was on the PC gamepass and not just the Xbox one and I could only find the Xbox version. Great to see there’s an official PC gamepass page on the Microsoft store now (not to be confused with Outer Wilds, which is still Xbox-only on gamepass).
