I hope you like planning ahead, because the roster of games this week will enjoy testing your mettle.

It’s the first week of September, which means all the big guns for the year are starting to come out. It starts with Iceborne, the mammoth expansion for Monster Hunter: World, for everyone not busy farming mats in World of Warcraft: Classic already.

If that doesn’t command enough attention for your time, then perhaps Gears 5 might. The game officially launches for all and sundry on September 10, unless you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (which is more likely and reasonable than paying for early access editions). If the latter applies, you’ll get access to the game this Friday. (We’ll have full thoughts from the US and myself by the end of the week, if you want to hold out for that one.)

And then there’s some huge JRPGs to work your way through. Final Fantasy 8: Remastered officially drops tomorrow, as does Catherine: Full Body, although the latter’s more a puzzler than a JRPG. Torchlight 2 hits the PS4 in Australia on the same day, and there’s NBA 2K20 at the end of the week too.

Here’s what’s out this week:

  • Torchlight 2 (PS4, XBO, Switch)
  • Post War Dreams (XBO)
  • Monochrome Order (XBO)
  • WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship (PC, PS4, XBO)
  • NBA 2K20 (PC, PS4, XBO, Switch)
  • Gears 5 (PC, XBO)
  • Final Fantasy 8 Remastered (Switch, PS4, XBO)
  • Creature in the Well (PC, Switch, XBO)
  • Restless Hero (XBO)
  • Catherine Full Body (PS4)
  • Spyro: Reignited Trilogy (PC, Switch)
  • Starpoint Gemini 3 (PC)
  • Fantasy General 2 (PC)
  • Sin Slayers (PC)
  • A Deul Hand Disaster: Trackher (Switch)
  • Gurgamoth (Switch)
  • Barrierx (Switch)
  • Hyperforma (Switch)
  • Headliner: Novinews (Switch)
  • Remothered (Switch)

Onto the trailers! We’ll start with Torchlight 2, which looks like a perfect accompaniment for the Switch.

Hyperforma looks really cool, but it’ll probably get lost a fair bit in the noise this week. Keep an eye on it, though.

God Iceborne looks great though, and Fantasy General seems pretty interesting, although I still need to muck around with the new Age of Wonders. See anything you like this week?

  • The Catherine Platinum is my most rarest and enjoyable accomplishment, I just recently went back to PS3 to get it even though the EU version of the babel towers is technically broken I still got through it in the end with much trial and error. I can’t wait to do it all again on PS4 tomorrow!

    • Same but for some reason my brain this morning kept thinking back to old complaints about “but it’s also on this platform etc etc.” so I just included it for that.

      • All good.

With so many re-releases & remasters & remakes across so many systems it can be hard to remember what has what & when it came out -especially with staggered releases across different platforms.

  • Yes there is something I’m interested in this week Alex Walker and that’s Activision and Toys for Bob’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy coming out for the Nintendo Switch tomorrow because with both Activision and Beenox running the Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Spyro and Friends Grand Prix running for 30 days Spyro Reignited Trilogy for the Nintendo Switch is going to take me on a trip down memory lane to 20 years ago when the Spyro IP licensing rights were first owned by the team at Universal Pictures and developed by Insomniac Games who are now developers for MARVEL comics Spider-Man for the PS4.
Universal Pictures were also the same publisher for Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot and now fast forward to today and both Crash Bandicoot and the Spyro the Dragon IP licensing rights are now owned by Activision.
Spyro has been my childhood since I was young and played it on the Playstation I’m now 26 years old Alex Walker and I still love Spyro and so I will be picking up Spyro Reignited Trilogy on the Nintendo Switch tomorrow to relive my childhood memories of playing as Spyro the young purple dragon.

  • Keep hoping every week for news on the EU/AU psn release for ps4 Battle Princess Madelyn…8.5months on since it came out on XB, PC, Switch W’wide & U.S./Asian psn.
Originally understood it was in part due to the EU store not supporting IARC classification but believe Sony does now. Whilst i’d just like to buy it being a G’n’G fan, i feel sorry for kickstarter backers here & the eu. Twitter & kickstarter comments are either ghosted or get a “working on the ps4 eu version” without any explanation whats happened. Very strange.

  • Sadly no. $$ are a bit tighter than they used to be-hoping to save towards next gen with ps4 compatibility baked in (thank goodness).
Need a few games to justify alternate options or create (bleugh),u.s. account. Just weird that they sound close to getting an LRG physical release ready but despite getting its major cross platform patches (incl.ps4 U.S.), they’ve had so much trouble getting it out on the eu/au store.
Wish capcom would do a G’n’G collection & add in the Maximo games like they did with Megaman otherwise!

  • Yes I do have a Nintendo Switch Alex Walker.
What about you do you have a Nintendo Switch and are you going to be picking up Spyro Reignited Trilogy this week?
Because I am definitely picking up Spyro Reignited Trilogy for the Nintendo Switch because if you don’t believe me I’m a huge Crash Bandicoot and Spyro fan.
