This Week In Games: Full Body Gears

I hope you like planning ahead, because the roster of games this week will enjoy testing your mettle.

It’s the first week of September, which means all the big guns for the year are starting to come out. It starts with Iceborne, the mammoth expansion for Monster Hunter: World, for everyone not busy farming mats in World of Warcraft: Classic already.

If that doesn’t command enough attention for your time, then perhaps Gears 5 might. The game officially launches for all and sundry on September 10, unless you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (which is more likely and reasonable than paying for early access editions). If the latter applies, you’ll get access to the game this Friday. (We’ll have full thoughts from the US and myself by the end of the week, if you want to hold out for that one.)

And then there’s some huge JRPGs to work your way through. Final Fantasy 8: Remastered officially drops tomorrow, as does Catherine: Full Body, although the latter’s more a puzzler than a JRPG. Torchlight 2 hits the PS4 in Australia on the same day, and there’s NBA 2K20 at the end of the week too.

Here’s what’s out this week:

  • Torchlight 2 (PS4, XBO, Switch)
  • Post War Dreams (XBO)
  • Monochrome Order (XBO)
  • WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship (PC, PS4, XBO)
  • NBA 2K20 (PC, PS4, XBO, Switch)
  • Gears 5 (PC, XBO)
  • Final Fantasy 8 Remastered (Switch, PS4, XBO)
  • Creature in the Well (PC, Switch, XBO)
  • Restless Hero (XBO)
  • Catherine Full Body (PS4)
  • Spyro: Reignited Trilogy (PC, Switch)
  • Starpoint Gemini 3 (PC)
  • Fantasy General 2 (PC)
  • Sin Slayers (PC)
  • A Deul Hand Disaster: Trackher (Switch)
  • Gurgamoth (Switch)
  • Barrierx (Switch)
  • Hyperforma (Switch)
  • Headliner: Novinews (Switch)
  • Remothered (Switch)

Onto the trailers! We’ll start with Torchlight 2, which looks like a perfect accompaniment for the Switch.

Hyperforma looks really cool, but it’ll probably get lost a fair bit in the noise this week. Keep an eye on it, though.

God Iceborne looks great though, and Fantasy General seems pretty interesting, although I still need to muck around with the new Age of Wonders. See anything you like this week?
