This Week In Games: The Goose Awakening

It’s finally that time of week, where all the major stuff lands out of nowhere. We’ve got geese honking all over the joint. A Game Boy classic returns with a touch of 2019. There’s new hardware in the Switch Lite! And then there’s the exclusives and all the releases that are part of Apple Arcade, which launches on Thursday. And there’s the Ni No Kuni remaster as well. Puzzle Quest is back too — it looks like a remaster of the original, from the gameplay you can see below.

It’s a busy week, and chances are people are getting more than one game from the leaderboard this time around. Here’s the score. (Note that some games might launch on other platforms this week, but I can only list what’s appearing on the store on Monday morning.)

The Mega Drive Mini Is A Console Worthy Of The Sega Name

The SEGA Mega Drive Mini isn't the first time a mini SEGA console has gone on the market, but it's the first one that's worth your money.

Talk about too many games in a single week. Puzzle Quest on the Switch with touchscreen support might be the sleeper hit amongst all of this. But Goose Game? Sayonara Wild Hearts? Ni No Kuni cranked up to max on the PC?

What a week. See anything you fancy?

  • I don’t know if I can lose that many hours of my life to Puzzle Quest again, but it’s perfect for Switch.

Also definitely going to test out Apple Arcade when it hits. Really excited by the prospect of mobile gaming that doesn’t suck.

  • As something of a Homestuck fan, seeing “Honk” evokes a completely different reaction. Actually, maybe it’s exactly the same reaction.

For me it’s all about Link’s Awakening this week. Real talk. Link’s Awakening is the only Zelda game I like so I’m really happy it’s endured this long alongside Link to the Past.

    • This makes me sad to hear as Zelda is one of my favourite franchises, but also happy as Link’s Awakening is the first one I played and has a special place in my heart.

Warms the soul to hear it’s someone else’s pick of the bunch.

  • Keen to check out the full release of Overland after having the early access version for years. Would prefer to play it on iPhone, but I’m not planning on subscribing to Apple Arcade.

Don’t think I’ll be getting Untitled Goose Game and Link’s Awakening on launch, but hope to get to them at some point.

  • @alexwalker Is there any reason why Castle Crashers remastered is missing from the aussie psn store? Game is due out on the EU store on the 19th. Given it has a PG rating on the XB aus. store it can’t be a ratings issue?! :-/
