Doom Eternal Delayed To March

Doom Eternal has been delayed to March 20, 2020. The news comes via a Twitter post from id Software saying that the game needs more time in order to “live up to our standards of speed and polish.”

The message also notes that a few other changes related to Eternal’s release. Invasion Mode, which allowed players to enter each other’s games as a demon, will come separately as a free update “shortly after launch.” In addition, the Nintendo Switch port of the game is coming some time “after the other platforms,” exact date to be announced.

Finally, Doom 64 is coming to all platforms, not just Switch. It’s also a pre-order bonus for Doom Eternal.

With the move to March, Doom Eternal will be releasing around the same time as some extremely anticipated games — just two weeks after the Final Fantasy VII remake and Watch Dogs: Legion, and on the same day as Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Fine by me. My wallet has been begging for mercy from game releases this year anyway.

I'm the complete opposite, Doom Eternal was the game was looking forward to playing this year, other than the PC release of RDR2.

Was confused for a sec and thought there was a star wars game dedicated to R2D2 coming out.
Would be more excited for that, just for sheer bravery of making such a game.

Aww man, my kid was due to be born 2 weeks after launch so this would have been perfect.

Ask your wife nicely if she can hold it for a bit

Or, as she would be known shortly after asking that, “ex-wife”.

        Already have... several times...

...might need a place to stay tonight if anyone’s offering? ;)

I'd rather they do it right than rush it if they can't meet the original deadline. I'd love to have it asap of course but I don't want it to suck on release

On this note, a Doom Eternal mural is currently being painted in Melbourne Central and it's amazing.
