Blizzard has spent the whole year betting on a big showing at Blizzcon. Let’s see how that bet pans out.
The show is shaping up to be historic, for all manner of reasons. Diablo 4 has been redesigned and redeveloped for so many years, and the franchise has such a long history, and we’ll finally get to see where Blizzard has landed on the franchise.
But there’s also the burgeoning question of what the future of World of Warcraft looks like post-2019. Does Classic become the long-term way forward? Or will concurrent updates to existing World of Warcraft while Classic does its own thing?
There’s also the future of Overwatch, and what a PvE Overwatch world looks like. What’s happening to Starcraft? Are more mobile games on the way? There’s talk of dragon-themed expansions for Hearthstone, and how will that game stave off the rise of challengers in the last few weeks, from Legends of Runeterra to Gwent on mobile?
You can watch the full opening keynote, where all the major announcements will be made, via the Twitch channel below.
Most of the games are usually playable on the Blizzcon floor immediately after the keynote ends. For more hands on with whatever’s announced, and interviews with everyone behind the games, I’ll have all the coverage over the next two days.
