What's Your Favourite Game Of 2019?

2019 might not have had standouts like God of War or Red Dead Redemption 2 that were head and shoulders above the rest of the pack, but hot damn there were a ton of really good games this year.

As we do every year, it's time for you to vote on your favourite game of 2019. We'll do the most disappointing game and a few special breakouts - being the end of a decade - as separate posts. This one is just for the games that stuck with you the most, the games you couldn't stop playing, the ones you remembered long after the credits rolled.

Apart from some high profile failures in Anthem and Ghost Recon Breakpoint, not to mention whatever the hell happened to WWE 2K20, it's been a consistently good year across the board. Strategy games had a strong 12 months with the Civilization 6 expansion, Islanders, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Wargroove, and even smaller indies like Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 did well.

There were the surprises: Apex Legends dropped out of nowhere, we finally realised what Death Stranding was all about, Disco Elysium took everyone totally by surprise, and Control was so, so good. And long awaited titles like Bloodstained, Shenmue 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Obisidan's The Outer Worlds - basically Obsidian getting to make a Fallout game again with the baggage - came out, and they were good.

It's been a good year. Question is: what was your favourite? Nominate below and I'll reveal the results around Christmas.

Oh, and one bonus thing. As part of the GOTY voices this year, I'm also looking to include some long-running readers among those voices. If you'd like to be interviewed and included in the 2019 wrap, get in touch!

For me my top pick is Remnant: From the Ashes due to the co-op. I was able to enjoy this from start to end with the missus and left us both wanting to co-op more often. Hit an awesome bug after 2 hrs play which unlocked all achievements on steam. My fastest completion to date :D

Admittedly the game can be a bit samey and the weapons/gear are lacking, it was still very enjoyable.

Even though Outer Worlds has gotten mediocre to good ratings, i still enjoyed it. Could not play any other game until i finished it. Had me hooked.

MHW Iceborne. I guess it’s a DLC, but it’s so good and improves so much on an already great game. I can’t think of anything that bugged me in MHW (and it’s a short list) that wasn’t fixed in Iceborne. Many, many hours played.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses for me... 350 hours & I both cannot wait to finally finish it (all playthroughs) whilst simultaneously not wanting it to end.

Surprised so many people plumping for Fallen Order; not bad by any means but >shrugs< to each their own I guess?

Disco Elysium, Sekiro & DMC 5 would round out my list I reckon?

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has to be my favourite game of 2019 because of Activision and Beenox's hard work to bring us free DLC content that's encouraging to us participate and that Crash Team Racing is celebrating it's 20th anniversary since the original Playstation game was developed by Naughty Dog as this was Naughty Dog's final development process before Naughty Dog walked away from the team at Universal Pictures to focus on the Jak and Daxter franchise. But as we know Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon's licensing rights were owned by Universal Pictures themselves not by Naughty Dog not by Insomniac Games or Sony.
It was Universal Pictures who owned the rights to Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon.
Fast forward to 2019 and now Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon licensing rights belong to Activision.
Luigi's Mansion 3 also has to be my second favourite along with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate because we've already got 4 DLC fighters and they are Joker from Persona 5 the Dragon Quest Hero from Dragon Quest XI Banjo and Kazooie all thanks to Phil Spencer and Microsoft who bought their plan to bring in Banjo and Kazooie for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Terry Bogard from SNK Corporation's King of Fighters from 1991.
