While more Marvel movies are great, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a fresh brand of Marvel that’s really looking hot.
Due out on September 2, 2021 — provided there’s no surprise lockdowns or other announcements to push it back — the latest MCU addition will be the second film in what’s known as Phase Four. Phase Four is basically the canonical block of Marvel shows/series that concluded with Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, and it’ll officially start with the release of Black Widow in a fortnight.
The first teaser gave everyone a glimpse at Shang-Chi’s martial arts prowess. The second official trailer below expands a bit more on Shang-Chi’s origins, running for almost 2 minutes. It covers the familial divide at the heart of Shang-Chi’s story, and the inherent conflict between Shang-Chi and his father, the antagonist of the story.
So far, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings looks really good. I’m interested to see how much Marvel departs from the traditional source material, too. Will Shang-Chi join the ten rings?
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is due out in Australian cinemas on September 2, 2021. For more footage, see the first official trailer for Shang-Chi below.
