Rick and Morty season five is nearly here, and it’s set to bring back all the weird, gross-out antics we know and love as our heroes continue their strange, cross-universe adventures. After a rocky year that only saw a handful of episodes release, the good news about the upcoming season five is that it’s set to be a bit more consistent.
This year will see the release of ten episodes, with each episode releasing weekly from June 21. That means it’ll likely air from June to August 2021 before the franchise goes dormant once again.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the rest of the 50 confirmed episodes.
Where to watch it in Australia
While HBO Max will air the show in the United States, that privilege will go to Netflix in Australia.
You can already catch every episode of the show on the streaming platform, and when season five drops you can catch the rest of the story there too.
New episodes will begin airing weekly from tonight 5:00pm AEST, June 21 in Australia.
There’s plenty you can do to prepare ahead of the show’s release. You can catch up or rewatch past seasons, of course. But you can also get jazzy with it and try something new — like the new Maxibon Rick and Morty ‘Pickle Rick Mint’ flavour (a tie-in ice cream which is not, in fact, pickle-flavoured).
You could also mainline every one of the show’s many, many trailers.
With cosmic domes, Voltrons, space aliens and a Captain Planet impersonator waiting in the wings, season five is sure to be just as wacky and weird as seasons past. The long wait for new episodes looks absolutely worth it.
There’s plenty to look forward to when Rick and Morty returns from tonight.
