Eric Knudsen, the creator of fictional horror character Slender Man, has issued a public statement in response to the tragic stabbing in Wisconsin that left a 12 year-old girl fighting for her life.
Knudsen’s spokeswoman Sue Procko issued the statement to the Associated Press, which begins “I am deeply saddened by the tragedy in Wisconsin and my heart goes out to the families of those affected by this terrible act.”
Adding to a statement issued by the website earlier this week, Creepypasta admin David Morales also spoke with AP, saying “Overall, the community has deep condolences to the family of the victim and all those who were involved.”

A little context might be useful:
“A spokeswoman for Slenderman creator Eric Knudsen and an administrator for creepypasta.wikia.com said they have been overwhelmed with calls and messages since news broke that the girls charged in the weekend stabbing told police they wanted to curry favor with Slenderman and prove he was real.”
Thank you 🙂
Pretty sure he had nothing to do with creating Slenderman. It was started in a photoshop thread on the Something Awful forums.
I was there in GBS and Phriday threads when it was created and he is indeed the guy behind the submission with the handle ‘Victor Surge.’
I honestly don’t see why he needs to. Their are plenty of horrific figures those psychotic girls could have idealised. The figure was arbitrary.
Other news outlets are crediting Victor Surge with the creation of Slender Man on Creepypasta.
Who to believe? Should I care? Why am I still up now that my beer has run out?
Edit: Turns out it’s the same guy, Eric Knudsen is Victor Surge’s real name. I can now go to bed safe in the knowledge that all is consistent with the world.
That would be because Victor Surge was the name Eric used when he submitted SM to the competition
