It's been a little over a year since Prop Hunt arrived in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as nothing more than a silly, April Fools' Day weekend event.

Since then, it's become a permanent institution in three different games in the series. You might think it would be too much of a good thing, but the mode still holds strong as a fan favourite in 2018.

Black Ops 3 is still receiving new content, and coming back to Treyarch's 2015 title is a lot of fun. An update earlier this week has added a snowy variant of the Redwood map and the addition of the popular Infected game mode, which became available to play yesterday.

Awakening, the first map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, will be out for PS4 on February 2 and will come out for Xbox One at a later date. It won't be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 at all. It's got four maps (one in a water park!) and the first chapter of a new four-part co-op zombies campaign.

Because official screenshots wouldn't dare get us this close to Jeff Goldblum's majestic virtuosity, there is Theatre mode. Giving players free access to gameplay footage and virtual camera controls is nothing new -- games that pride themselves on their visual flair have been letting players show off their stuff for years. Perhaps one day it will be a standard feature in all 3D games.

There are certain things I've come to expect from a single player Call of Duty experience -- bombastic set pieces, an in-your-face message, some sort of betrayal and a slow motion enemy take down. Black Ops III delivers three out of four, plus a whole lot more.
