The inclusion of Mike Mignola's Hellboy as a guest character in the second wave of Injustice 2 DLC fighters was one of this year's nicest surprises. What's no surprise is how much arse the stone-fisted hellspawn is going to kick when he arrives in a fortnight.
Injustice 2 brought a lot of cool DC fan service to video games last month, but one of its best additions was making Supergirl part of the story. Although game fans have already seen what happens after Kara's arrival in Injustice, the ongoing digital comic series is delving into the moment she first lands on Earth, and we have a first look.
The entire point of DC's Injustice is to imagine a universe in which traditional canon is basically thrown out of the window in favour of a riveting series of what ifs. Tekken 7 player Bronson Tran lived up to his nickname "the Mouth of NorCal" this past Wednesday night local time when he received and rejected the MVP prize at E3's Twitch Esports Arena invitational. Fans nominated the MVP via Twitter hashtag, and the winner was supposed to get a T-Mobile phone. Except, as Bronson explained while standing on T-Mobile's stage, he uses AT&T and he'd rather not switch his data plan. Instead, Bronson plans to give his prize to a randomly selected Twitter fan.
Injustice 2 received its first major update on June 5, courtesy of developer NetherRealm Studios. The patch largely addresses lingering bugs in the DC Comics fighter, but it also included a new indicator that notes whether online opponents are playing over Wi-Fi. While it may seem like a minor addition, this represents a major step forward for the genre's netplay community, one that could also tear it in two.
Injustice is back to pit DC's heroes (and villains) against each other in overblown 2D combat. It also put a ton of artists to work designing their own takes on the costumes, characters and environments of the comic empire's properties.
