inXile is best-known these days for Torment: Tides of Numenera and Wasteland 2, but it’s also responsible for another franchise: The Bard’s Tale. A stalwart from the Interplay era, its modern adaptations are now inXile’s domain, with the latest instalment, The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep, due out late September….
Understandably for any spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment and a crowdfunding campaign as large as Torment: Tides of Numenera‘s, expectations were high. Perhaps too high.
Not an unexpected announcement, considering Torment: Tides of Numenera developer inXile locked in a late February release in December last year. As a celebration of sorts, inXile has created an “interactive quest” video that shows off some of the dialogue, gameplay and decision making in the game.
