The kingdom of Dreamland will remain open. Netflix has announced that Matt Groening’s fantasy series Disenchantment has been renewed for another 20-episode season, which means we’ll be getting new episodes through at least 2021.

Futurama is one of my all-time favourite shows. It’s one of the first things my now-husband and I bonded over when we met. So I was excited to hear that creator Matt Groening was moving from sci-fi to fantasy with Disenchantment.
After watching the whole season, which debuted last Friday on Netflix, I can safely say it’s a fine show. Not great, but not bad either. And the final couple of episodes may blow you away.

The thing that’s always made Matt Groening’s fantastical worlds relatable is that they’re all fundamentally similar to ours. Regardless of the universe they exist in, Groening’s characters are all drinking to escape the reality of their lives.
